Bamboo's relationship with humans has a long history, spanning thousands of years in many cultures.  With the development of times, the use of bamboo has changed, and even into the 21st century, bamboo has been used in many ways.  Here are some creative new uses for this renewable plant.

  • 01 Make a bamboo speaker Anatoly Omelichenko, a Russian, made the iPhone music stand out of bamboo.  The iBamboo speaker is laser-cut and hand-crafted from a hollow section of bamboo that naturally amplifiers the iPhone's speakers, with sound waves moving in two different directions to enhance stereo sound.  Omelichenko calls it a 100% green speaker -- the entire structure requires no amplification of sound and no electricity, so it's absolutely zero power.

  • 02 for alternative energyBamboo has a reputation as a highly sustainable material because it can grow quickly on moderate to poor soil -- some species can grow up to a foot a day.  And harvesting the plant causes little or no damage to its roots.  Another "green" way to use bamboo is as a building material for alternative energy facilities.  In many rural areas, bamboo is the main material for making turbines for hydroelectric power.  Bamboo is also used to make blades for wind turbines.

  • 03 Used as air freshener and dehumidifier

Bamboo charcoal is a widely used air freshening material.  When properly placed and packaged, bamboo charcoal can automatically remove odors from refrigerators and other small areas, such as closets and cabinets.  In addition to absorbing odors, bamboo charcoal can also dehumidify.

  • 04 used as health and beauty productsUsing bamboo charcoal exfoliation can solve this disturbing problem.  In Japan, heated bamboo charcoal is added to medicinal vinegar to treat minor skin conditions such as eczema.  Such bamboo products also have antibacterial properties.

  • 05 For fabric

Bamboo not only makes people's skin beautiful, but also beautifies people's clothes.  Bamboo fiber has been widely used in durable, breathable soft fabrics to make bedding, underwear, baby diapers, blankets, bath towels, bags, hats and more.
